GameSalad In GameSalad.. Appception

Hey peoples,

Just as a heads up, this is extremely random. I had an interesting idea a few weeks ago.

What if you made GameSalad in GameSalad. It'd have the same GUI and basically just have attributes that affected the real attributes. Obviously some things wouldn't work, like the image/sound importing or web integration. But you could even do the saving/loading and home screen theoretically.

It just kind of makes you realize how GS really isn't just for games. As an example, my upcoming Music Magic is really more of a fun tool than a game.

Anyway, just an interesting idea. First person who does it gets a dosen doughnuts.

you could definitely make a level editor for a game. Because a simple level editor is really not much different from a game. Give them pieces, let them drag them into a space, save it to a table, etc.

See iBlast moki 2 for similar. But yeah, its funny no one has made a super simple "make your own game" game in GS.

Oh yeah, there are lots of level builder games out there. But like with this you could really do it full scale if you wanted to. Not quite sure how publishing would work... MIND BLOWN! :D

Thats interesting but it would require a lot of skills to do that. Maybe something like a basic version of Amazing Alex could be possible

    Reminds me of GSBot:

    Now Jango, which seems quiet.

@lycettebros - Interesting.. I looked in to that a lot, and apparently it did work for awhile. It really is to bad that it got depreciated, as I think the idea of a real GS app for the iPad/iPhone would be epic. But then again.. kind of pointless. Either way, it looks like that guy went on the make Jango, which is still really primitive and you have to know how to code.

I still think it would be interesting and funny to see how well you could replicate GS withen GS.

Yeah GSBot seemed to step on GS territory - it sounded very cool. Developing an app within an app.

Well with GSBot I'm pretty sure he wasn't making it within gamesalad, he was just making a game making tool for the iPad that created GS compatible files. The reason he moved on to Jango was because it was to complicated to make GSBot so that it would be Gamesalad on the iPad because of compatibility issues and such. The idea of making gamesalad with gamesalad, sure it might be cool, but extremely pointless.

Yep, you're right, he made it using XCode. And I can totally see him getting tired of having to conform to what GS had, and starting something new.

    Aaand.. yes. Completely pointless. 8-X
