how do i stop an actor at a certain point after i have accelerated it?

- Why not use interpolate instead of accelerate? Interpolate self position X or Y to whatever point on the scene you want.

i want the actor to loop the screen for a certain period than stop at a certain point

Ok, no problem. Just make a new integer attribute called 'Move'.
Then, put your acceleration in a rule the requires attribute Move to be 1.
Next, make a timer that changes Move to 0 after x seconds.
