Does the marketplace not allow paypal anymore?

Hey All,
Justa quick question - Does the marketplace not allow paypal anymore? - I much prefer paypal to anything that seems to be available on it, Is there no way I can use paypal?
Thanks,
J.Leonard

Really? no paypal? what the heck is the reasoning behind that?

They had issues so switched over to the current one ... Which I don't know if its still a problem but when I went to pay for something, put my card number in and hit pay .. it just wiped out my number and nothing happened. This was on Safari, re-did it on Firefox and it worked.
I'm sure @SaladStraightShooter can enlighten you a bit more on it

Thats to bad. I'm sure theres many users like me and while I don't buy personally buy anything from the marketplace. Paypal is where my extra spending money is. and if I can't pay with paypal a website doesn't get my business. not to mention all the kiddos out there who are more likely to have a paypal account vs a credit card.

Oh completely agree .. I never normally buy anything either but generally if i cant pay with paypal, i'll go elsewhere

@tenrdrmer (I spelled your name right, by the way ;) )

Yeah, I totally agree with you guys. I'm very hesitant to give out my credit card info, so if I can't get it through PayPal...I can't (won't) get it :(

Well now I guess I'll just PM a person and pay them personally through PayPal if I see anything I want (not that I'm an avid purchaser there, only got one thing from the marketplace :P )
And I also agree that most of the kids only have (can use) PayPal, and I have a feeling a lot of business may be from there. So they either ask convince their parents for their credit card...or the marketplace just lost a sizable chunk of its customers :(

Agreed, generally speaking if I can't use PayPal to buy something I'll just find somewhere where I can use PayPal.

I also agree with the point about children being more likely to have a PayPal account as opposed to a credit card.

    This step seem regressive.

We were having significant issues with Paypal in regards to fraud, for several months.

The primary issue was how Paypal handled illegal chargebacks, for one. They're also grossly unreliable and prone to inflexibility with services.

We switch to Playspan to streamline the checkout process and allow people to use credit cards more easily, with less oversight. It also allows us a greater amount of protection against fraud and misuse.

    Sad to hear :(

I have stuff in the marketplace, I didn't know there was a switch. However, Paypal is a problem in regards to charge backs so I am not surprised.

This wouldn't affect any chances of GameSalad supporting PayPal, right? (which has been announced yesterday on their official blog- https://www.thepaypalblog.com/2013/03/sxsw-2013-paypal-developer-tools/)

If the issue is Chargeback from Credit Card companies how does a different processor change that. From pay-pals site it looks as though they just do what the CC company tells them to?

It definitely sucks that fraud is the reason. very disappointing. What about offering a no Credit Card pay-pal option? just a thought

I see maybe playspan needs to work out a way to take payments through PayPal ;) in the end its a non issue for me. I don't sell anything in the marketplace anymore and never buy. Just throwing out idea to make it better for others.

We're still discussing whether or not to re-enable Paypal as a secondary purchase option.
Really hope that goes well... :(

P.S. Hopefully we'll see change, but I can understand that GS is only doing this to reduce fraud..

It will be interesting to see how this impacts sales, everyone I know uses Paypal.

as widespread as paypal is, they absolutely suck for merchant protection.
