The Forums Star - Revised

Hey guys,

Just realized a few things today that I thought I may as well share. I held back until they got rid of the Off-Topic button ;)

So previously when I asked how the experience star (top right of posts on the forums) worked, I was given some interesting answers. @Chakku donated some complex math equations, and @FlyingBaconStudios + @Braydon_SFX said that only a certain amount of people could be a certain rank.

I'm pretty sure that both are incorrect. The reason that I noticed this was that @beefy_clyro now has 5 points on his star, and yet he is not on the top then. FBS and Braydon said that there could only be 10 people with those 5 points, but beefy is not in the top ten. I also noticed that beefy just went over 1000 points, and when I got 4 points on my star, I was right at 500.

So my newest hypothesis: 1* = Default, 2* = (over) 100 (points), 3* = 250, 4* = 500, 5* = 1000.

Anyway, not that anyone cares. :)

    Thank you for pointing it out though I guess, I actually had no idea nor actually care with forum badges and stars! Its like Wow for a second and then I realise I have actually no gain from it haha

    Good luck on your hypothesis and conspiracy theories though .... Did you know Obama was harbouring an alien?

    I don't think the point/star system works the way it has been described, obviously. Personally, I don't care for, or about any of it, but some people seem to like it. Don't fret too much over it, it means nothing, it's just a fun little addition to the forums.

    @SlickZero / @RP - I totally agree, it's no big deal at all.
    I just thought I'd share a tidbit of information. No need for the extrapolations :P
    But yes, it really doesn't matter.

    I think the people who are in the all-time leaderboards, and/or the line cooks/sous chefs should get free pro memberships, but somebody has confirmed to me that this is not true. Those people are quite dedicated though; it'd be nice if they got some form of reward for it :)

    :)) Not because they don't have it, more so as a perk/reward for their dedication. Them getting a free pro membership each year they're up there is (I think) minuscule compared to the grand purchasing of pro annually.

    That would be pretty cool, but I can also confirm that's not how it goes down. I paid my $300 just like all the other Pro members. :)

    I will admit, though. A completely filled star is nice to look at.

    Not in the slightest was the intention, to be honest (going to ask SSS to add the 30 points I lost yesterday)

    I was just saying that because there are some people here that make great contributions (post-wise, as well as gfx/sfx/templates/demos etc., that also happen to be Line cooks/Sous Chefs, or in the All-Time leaderboard.

    I'm just saying it'd be nice to see them get a reward for their hard work (not that I'm one of them, seriously) :)

    I didn't really care about my points until @braydon_sfx basically challenged me. Lol now I still don't really care as long as I stay above him. :) I think it's odd sous chefs are not part of the star system. I never had a star at all until I stopped being a sous chef.

    Although, I have to say - its probably the ladies on the forums who give me the most points. They just can't resist the mask and cape. ;)

    Sorry to trample all over your theory @SnapFireStudios, and I know nobody really cares too much about points, but I'm on three stars already and I've only got 200 points so far, I must be an early achiever :D I've been 3 stars for a while too so I'm guessing I was around 150 points when I got promoted!

    Well, I've been slowing down recently since I got my Sidekick title. I can't give myself badges. Prior to the title, I use to bug Mr. SSS to give me badges etc. I guess I could now...But...Ya know...

    *Straightens mask* Alright, overtime points mode engaged. :ar!
