Particles

I am not sure if this has been posted or not if it has been, sorry I couldn't find it on here or on youtube / google. (Maybe bing has it lol). Anyways, I am looking to add particles to an actor when it blows up. I had a way that I thought would work, I had it set so that when x was blown up it would turn transparent and spawn particles for 0.2 seconds before its "destroyed". However, in later levels the object is too big, and this method doesn't work. So I am asking if there is a way that I can have the actor get "destroyed" and then spawn particles so that it doesn't collied with anything else to effect the outcome of the game / level?

Thanks

You could spawn an invisible, non-interactive actor in it's place with the particle behavior inside of it, and set it to destroy after however long you want.

mounted88...not even what I was looking for. I looked at that earlier as well as a few videos.
Slick, that seems like it will work, if for some reason it won't due to lots of activity and it makes gs lock up, any other ideas?

You could animate the explosion when your actor dies.

That's really your only option since an actor is the only thing that can have a particle behavior in it. If the actor is just spawned, or recycled from offscreen, and has it's physics turned off so it wont collide with anything, it shouldn't have much of an effect on performance.
