Can I get a Windows8 Dev License without a version of Windows8?

As in the title - do I need to buy and run a copy of windows 8 in order to get my Windows8 Dev License?
(i'm on a Mac so assume I'd have to run some sort of virtual desktop to do this).

    I think you only need a win8 machine if you want to test. There is nothing from stopping you from generating and submitting you win8 build from your Mac.

    But get a win8 tablet and test with it :) it's the only way to be sure it works how you want.

    I couldn't work out how to generate a dev license without having windows 8 so have partitioned and installed windows on my mac.

    @DigiChain, I had the same issue so I used VMware Fusion to run a windows 8 VM, but you could just use boot-camp on your Mac to install Windows 8.

    Also, I did not have a copy of Win8 so I signed up for a free "Bizspark" account and if approved you will be able to get a free Bizspark account which will give you access to all Microsoft software and you can generate yourself a Win8 key... Really cool so check it out!!!

    @robbingram - yeah I used bootcamp to set it up. Microsoft actually allow you to download a free evaluation copy of Win8 which you can use for 90 days - so that's what I have done.

    Sweet, but you should check out VMWare Fusion. It works really well and is not bad for 50 bucks so you don't need to switch back so much for testing.
