Will Gamesalad Work on Wine?

Does anyone else use Wine to run Windows apps on Mac and Linux? If so, can you tell me if the GS Creator for Windows runs on it? :)

Well as a Mac user, if I'm going to use Windows I need to use something much stronger than wine... :))

@jamie_c Good one. :) Do you know what I mean by wine though? If not then Google Wine for Mac.

We have a better Mac version than windows version, why not install it?

@Utveckla_Games, I do but I don't have any idea if GS works under it. Why do you want to run the Windows version on a Mac (or Linux)?

I've been thinking about installing the Windows version on my Mac just to get a handle on the difference of the interface, but I haven't gotten around to it yet. I'd still do all my development using the Mac version though. I might install Windows using Fusion just to test it out.

@jamie_c That is exactly what I want to do. I will always use the Mac creator for my projects but I'm going to be teaching a class on how to use GameSalad and I need to get firmiliar with the Windows UI before I start to teach. Unfortunatly, my only PC is a desktop hooked up to a 48" TV. It makes it hard to view the smaller stuff. :)

I do believe I remember someone getting the windows creator running in Wine but it was a real pain in the ass to get the settings right.

You realize if you have a linux box and are wondering you could have spent the last hour and a half trying to get it running instead of waiting for someone to tell you if it was possible right?

And if you don't have a linux box why does it matter ;)

@Utveckla_Games, if you have a copy of Windows OS for your PC, can't you just install that on your Mac and run GS under that? That is my plan...

Just FYI GameSalad Windows Creator uses .NET and WPF. So if there is a version of WINE that will support that then maybe.

@tenrdrmer I DO have a Linux Box (Dual boot is such a wonderful thing ;) ) and yes I've been trying. @jamie_c I used up all of the installs, so I would have to do it illegally and I don't want to do that. @BlackCloakGS Will it tell you that in the install and warn you if those aren't installed?

@Utveckla_Games the installer requires you to have .net installed (WPF is part for the newer .NET) It does seem that Moonlight implements a small subset of WPF so that with Mono might work.

    @Utveckla_Games, I see. Bummer :(

@BlackCloakGS Well, here is whats going on: It installed, everything worked (no errors), I can see all of the files installed (including the .exe) and it won't run. It just won't start. No errors, no windows, it just fails to open. :/

@Utveckla_Games first of all just going to point out that Linux is not a support platform.
Ok now that that is out of the way you will need the mono run time for linux and Moonlight (the opens source silver light) for there to be any chance that the exe will run.
You will then have to configure Moonlight to let WPF run out side of silver light. Then may there will be a small chance it might run.

@BlackCloakGS Haha I knew it wasn't supported but I thought it would be nice to get it to work on there. :) Thanks for your help!

@Utveckla_Games no worries, let me know if you get it to work.

I've used in on wine, on beer too, seems to work pretty well, although if I'm being honest I can't remember much passed the second bottle.
