Would it be possible to submit a game to steam? (steampowered.com) I think it is but I don't know for sure.

I asked this same question just the other day actually. I don't see why not. I mean, if you can make it into a .app or a .exe, then there shouldn't be any problem with putting it on steam

Well it's not a supported platform.
I'm pretty darn sure that the .app needs to be formatted in a way that Steam will accept.

You can't just upload any old GS file.. I think.

And I believe Steam require an SDK to be included in your file which we currently cant do ourselves.

    From the Steam Greenlight FAQ:

"Are Steamworks features required for distribution on Steam?

Many of our Steamworks features are popular with customers – like Steam Cloud support and Achievements. While we recommend that you include them in your games, they are not required."

So it seems Steamworks SDK isn't required :D

Defenetly are not required... there are a few games on Steam made in Flash, MMF2 and RPG Maker without these features.

Interesting. So, does that confirm 100% that you can publish to Steam from GS? If so... cool :)

It is possible however there isn't a big chance to have a game published on Steam... It should already be a hit or it should get to Steam via Green Light which is extremly difficult without thousands of players in game's community.

3d? Most of indie games on steam are 2d not 3d.

Now that's just not right :-t

There possibly are more 3d than 2d games on Steam (I'm not gonna count) but there's loads of 2d games on there too.

Ok there are 2d games on steam, but most games that actually get green lite are from engines that are superior from GS....I've heard it's pretty hard, even with an engine like Unreal or unity ...stick to the AppStore man haha

Engine doesn't matter.... there are games made with MMF2 and GameMaker as well. Game matters.

There's always a chance of success though, Hotline Miami was built with an old version of GamerMaker and that did amazingly well on Steam. Although I do accept that GameMaker is more advanced than Gamesalad is right now, a good game is a good game. You are right though that it's very hard to get green lit whatever engine you're using.
