About to submit to apple - Icon question...

Hello.

Itunes connect requires a 1024x1024 icon, and states that you 'can not scale it up'.

Does this mean that we must start with original art sized at 1024x1024, and not simply enlarge our current artwork? Is apple very strict about the appearance of artwork, and inspecting for art that has been scaled up?

My apps are designated for the iphone and ipad - why are 1024x1024 icons required? Isnt the icon size for retina around 144px?

Thanks

the 1024x1024 icon is also used for the App Store. If you can resize your current icon to 1024x1024 and have it still look good, try it.

but going forward, you should always design at 1024, but verify readability at 72px

    Wow!

Some of the art that I actually purchased isnt vector, and doesnt support a size that big.

    Thanks for the info.

Remember the icon file should be saved in png file and not transparent :-)
