The Nook is dead and done.

If you're developing anything for the nook you need to read this.

I always thought the Nook was a bit hopeless. I'm all for competition in the market but with the other big players around I don't think they ever stood a chance really. Brave attempt though.

That's too bad. I was getting 50-100 a month from them and it required like no change from my amazon versions

That's too bad. The BN store was by far my best seller.

I'm kind of disappointed, I liked the Nook Color when I tried one, and thought I could see a small but close indie community developing around it. This has nothing to do with my development, but I also hope this does not mean Barnes and Noble is about to go out of business. Its the only place left to get physical graphic novels and CDs. I still prefer physical media for certain things as collectibles.

I don't think they are going to close their app store. They are 3rd partying the hardware but people still have nook's, and still use the nook app store. We should be able to still get some profit out of it for another 1-3 years.

It is too bad - Nook app store is crazy profitable for me.

It sounds like Nooks are adopting Google Play, which in turn would mean the demise of the Nook app store. If this were the case, I'd expect profit to drop immediately after full implementation.

I don't see anything in the article that indicates they'll be closing the Nook app store. Did I miss something?

So long as there are still Nooks out there, the Nook app store can continue to earn B&N money (even with the loss of trade they now have to Google Play).

Yeah it's too bad. I have made a vast majority of my money from nook. :(

Same. The google play store was added a while ago and I didn't see any drop in free downloads or paid.

More power to the global elite (aka Apple and Google) on the plus side at least we don't have to mod for more devices :)

I'm surprised to hear that Nook has been so profitable for some of you guys, I had no idea, it always kind of seemed like a small market.

I see this as time for me to get my bigger projects moving along. With self publishing on ps4, steam and indie consoles in the near future, it's time to step up sooner than later. The casual games market is good but for a one to three man shop it's too risky IMO
