I 100% agree!!!!!! I would add one other part to it. Self drive. Having a successful entrepreneurial venture, which is what being an inde is, if one is not a super driven person who pushes themselves to work hard even on the days you may not feel like it is huge. Remember usually we have the pressure of a boss when we are an employee, this makes us work. As an inde, you're the boss and you have to push yourself harder than anyone else would.
I agree with @FryingBaconStudios It's a whole different ball game to push yourself when it's just you. It can be a long road before you finally make that hit game and many will just give up when they realise how much work a potentially simple idea can be. Those who push themselves and learn from their mistakes will eventually find success!
