One big image or a few smaller ones spawning

Hi,

I am trying to optimise my game as it's a little laggy at the moment. I've converted as many attributes into tables as possible and removed timers and so on.

My game has three scrolling layers moving at different speeds to give it a 3D effect

What i would like to know is, is it better to have one really long image for the floor and middle layer that scrolls? Or to have it broken up into smaller sections that spawns the same actor behind it and then destroy itself when it's off the screen?

Here are the pictures of my level before it starts using the spawning method and one picture with the level in play to give you an idea of how it looks

Could you recycle the actor instead of spawning/destroying?

I could do but that would then require at least 3 of each actor so that there are no gaps before changes its X attribute. So would three slightly smaller actors be better than spawning?

I would think so. Plus, it doesn't take long at all to set up. A few self attributes and some rules and you'll be good to go.

Don't forget you can use GS to tile your image inside the actor bounds. So with your space floor you could make the actor be 3 times wider than the image - that way you only have two actors to recycle.
