Which Tablets to Get for Testing Purposes. Please Help!

Hello GS Community,
I am on the hunt to purchase a couple tablets to do my testing on. Already getting iPad and iPad mini so that's taken care of. Just need help on the Android side. I just got a Nook HD+ and think that will work for testing on the nook. Should that one be fine? Next looking at the Kindle Fire HD's. I know there are different screen sizes so which screen size should I go with. Will the 7" be fine? Lastly I am looking at just an android Tablet. Which Android tablet should I go with? I know there are many models like "Nabi", "Samsung Electronics America", "Samsing Galaxy", "Asus MeMo", "Asus Nexus" and I know there's more. I am kind of lost with which I should go with since there are so many so please help! Thanks GS community!

I've been asking myself the same question. I bought a KindleFire and am using beta testers who have other Android tablets and phones. It's hard to justify buying lots and lots of devices (unless, I suppose, you are going to make lots and lots of apps), but I'm also not comfortable releasing something until I know it works on each device.

FWIW, my app works perfectly on the KindleFire, but still has some problems on the KindleFireHD 8.9, so I wouldn't assume that testing on one Nook or Kindle replicates how it will scale on all Nooks or Kindles.

This page shows the most popular Android screen sizes and densities:

This page has some information about the bestselling Android devices:

And I'm 99% certain I have seen a Wikipedia page that listed the top-selling devices for every year going back 6 or 7 years.

Thank you for you post @fogarty. It is greatly appreciated. This is such a difficult decision to make. LOL I also want to get an android phone to test on but don't want to start a contract or buy one at full retail price so I am looking at the Samsung Galaxy Camera which I believe will work instead of getting a phone.

I have a kindlefire and kindlefire hd. I also have an iPad 2 &3 and iPhone And a samsung windows 8 tablet.

That's petty much most of the aspect ratios out there. And kindle/nook/droid projects pretty much all function identical.

I believe I just discovered that the problem I'm having with the KindleFireHD 8.9 was a stupid error on my part, so I take back what I said about testing on one Kindle not replicating it on all Kindles.

I grabbed a first gen Kindle Fire 7" off Ebay for peanuts. Its the only one with 512 MB Ram plus a more recent 8.9" as they are different screen ratio's.
