Making background stay put?

Hi. I want my background to stay put, even when my character jumps at a high point, the background is still in the same position. Any help would be great! Thanks!

    you need 2 layers.
    1 layer is scrollable (check the square) and 1 is not scrollable (uncheck the square)
    the not scrollable should be under the scrollable layer.
    place the background in the not scrollable layer and all the other actors in the scrollable layer.
    if this is not working maybe post an image of what you have

    Place it in a new layer and uncheck scrollable. That should do it.

    I tried that, but now my background is on top of everything.

    then place the layer with background under all other layers ;)

    Ok. So I have two layer 'folders', if you will, one called background, the other called HUD.
    The HUD has my arrows and such in there, which makes it non scrollable. If I place my background in the layer 'folder', it goes on top of everything, no matter where I place it, even under my background layer which I believe you were talking about, @timolapre1998.

    If I place my background in HUD, that is.

    just make sure you place the actor 'background' under all the other actors. you also can do right click on background and move to back

    Okay. I tried what you said. My background is behind my character, but it still, though, moves...
    When I place it in the HUD (which is where all my non movable characters go), right click > move back > my character doesn't show up in front of my background, and I did right click on my character > move forward.
    Thanks for the quick replies!

    Do you have a template on this, @timolapre1998?
  • allc1865allc1865 Member, PRO Posts: 777
    Yep. That worked, but now the grass is hiding my controls.
    I'm not sure how to let you see a screenshot, but this is pretty much what it looks like:

    background (in background): my character, ground
    --underneath background--
    HUD (in HUD): right control, left control, background

    And like I wrote, the ground is now hiding my controls.

    Thanks!

    you have to take a screenshot and then place it on internet tinypic.com or imageshack.com or something. and then post the direct link like this <@img src="your link'> without @ and "your link" is the direct link of the image.

    make 3 layers.

    layer1 controls ->not scrollable
    --right control
    --left control

    layer2 HUD -> scrollable
    --character
    --ground
    --etc

    layer3 background -> scrollable
    --background

    that should work ;)

    direct link: http://oi40.tinypic.com/20z3a7n.jpg
    so its image

    then you did something wrong. can you post an image of what you have now?
    what is the background? is Sun Rays the background image?

    It works! I put my ground in the HUD area above my background layers and it works!
    Thank you so much for your help! :)
