Amazon Developer Account

Hi all,

I was wondering if the Developer account for Amazon costs money. I've heard some people say it was free, and some say it was only free for a year.

Thanks,
HBP

    @Gamelover456 @KevinCross,

    Do you guys know if it is only free for the first year, or is it always free?

    I couldn't see any mention of price anywhere. Someone said it was $50 but I couldn't see that. I haven't filled in the tax part yet so I can't upload apps but it seems to have set me up as a developer. It'll be a long while before I use it.

    It seems new accounts cost money, but not for existing ones...so my question is, couldn't someone make an account through the shopping-side of Amazon and then immediately use that to bypass the dev fee? That sounds like a very obvious loophole... :-?

    You said it cost $50 in this thread: http://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/60635/gamesalad-and-amazon-team-up/p3

    Maybe it did a while ago?

    When I signed up it used to cost $50 they must have changed it. It's been about a year. That's why you always look stuff up when needing solid info. I always read all the info when I'm signing up for something or doing stuff in GS that involves a third party. I had an account for my company that holds my golden book franchise but we haven't done much with that in the last year and I haven't put puck it on Amazon so I hadn't made an account for lost oasis games. I will be doing all that in the coming weeks. In the meantime I have been reading on Amazon how to do IAP and GameCircle. Perpetration is the key.

    When I register account on an agreement page there is

    "Changes to App Distribution and Services Agreement posted August 20, 2013

    We’ve updated the Mobile App Distribution Agreement to remove the $99 Program fee. Please review the full text of the updated Agreement carefully."

    I have both a UK and US Amazon account and signed up, free last night. Had to change a few things to suit using Jigglybean games instead of my actual name and bingo, it was all completed inside 10 minutes.

    Amazon need to change their app store on their website to display apps like google or itunes does because it is a bit of a mess.
