Quick wip of a Robot (could be Mario with animations) moving around and jumping on platforms in a 3D world.

Still working on platforms but i think its possible to do a take on a 3D Mario style game with GS.

Nice! Can you walk of a platform (instead of jumping) too?

I was going to ask the same thing - and is the top down view to get rid of z-sorting? Or is that all in the works?

    Looking great :)

    Very nice!
I wish GS would add some sort of z-sorting.

how many images are you using for the character to make it so fluid?

Excellent stuff as per usual from DeepBlueApps !!! :)>-

If I were a real pedant (and I am :D ) I'd just point out that when something leaves the ground - and is lit by a light source from above - then its shadow on the ground gets larger rather than smaller (it also becomes fainter and its edges become more diffuse).

    image

A reflection shrinks, a shadow grows.

Yep, could be bigger and more opaque to keep it simple - @Socks how would you do the soft edge?

I was thinking maybe two shadows one sharp and one soft and change the opacity to transition between them maybe?

I'd probably do it like it like this (file attached), basically a simulated diffusion using a few copies of the shadow.

Yeah, that can work too, although it can look weird unless you do the transition reasonably quickly, you might be better off with a few frames from 0% blur to 100% blur and step between them, I think I remember doing just that a while back, maybe last year, I might have the demo somewhere in the archives . . . .

I too was wondering if you could walk off of the platform. I am wondering how you would run into the barrier from one way (then need to jump) and not run into it from the other way. VERY cool either way!

    Found it !

It's not perfect, but as a test you get the general idea - it's changing between 7 images, blurred to sharp.

@Socks sweet - will check them out - I have a few demos to look at. I would love to do an isometric game one day - have to get these other ones out the door first.

It's going to be a Jetpack > SabreWulf > Knight Lore kind of journey I hope!

Legend once again, respect :) M@

@LumpApps @jesse75 @matarua Yes you can but you would need to work on it some more to add multiple levels of height as really this is a quick template to show you how to do a 3D character moving around more than anything.

@DenimShark only 36 images are used the same as GSRacerz 3D template.

@RockitGames Yes and its free for RC Pro members as usual.

Had fun making this little template and can't wait to see what people make with it as it has a lot of scope.
