FREE Step-by-Step Tutorial - You Choose the Game

Hey guys,

Here's the deal. I've decided to create a step-by-step video tutorial for others to learn from, but I haven't decided on what game to create. So I'm going to let you all choose.

I'm going to make a voting poll with the first five-seven suggestions. Whichever suggestion receives the most votes, then I'll create it with an easy to follow, step-by-step tutorial on YouTube.

Please keep the suggestions within the scope of Game Salad capability and with a decent time frame in mind.

With that being said, I can't wait to see what you guys suggest!

  • Here is one idea. A connect 4 type game. Show how to constrain the pieces, keep score, and detect when someone wins. I am excited to see what other people suggest!

I would like to see a tutorial to make a top down shooter...with a few scenes at least...with weapon switch and doors that have to be unlocked after a keycard is found. With music and sounds settings to be turned of and on...and with leaderboards...highscores. Thanks. I know I not within the first 5 but this woukd be a rare tutorial...template. Would be great if actor was controlled by thumbstick :-))))))

I know it's a bit more complex than the others, but what about a sim game like Game Dev Tycoon (not as advanced obv). Thank you!!

Great suggestions guys! I'll wait for two more suggestions, then I will make a poll. :)

Because @jamie_c already has a great tutorial for an endless runner, I'm not going to include that suggestion in the poll. Go ahead and check his out @Adrenaline. You can also make another suggestion for a different type of game.

That's great guys, thank you! I'm in the sketching stages of a new game so I was just looking for whatever I can get as far as endless runners go. I won't take up a voting spot, but what you're doing is certainly appreciated @pureepicstudios

If there aren't any more suggestions, I'll make a poll with the four or so that I have. I'll wait until tonight. :)

Also, @Riveraonline, could you elaborate a little further on what you want the point and click to be like?

A point and click game that has a inventory! I love puzzel physics games such as The Secret of Grisly Manor and Mystery Lighthouse, I have not worked with saving attributes and tables yet that would be a great way to learn on the break down on items in the game that have combination locks and patterns that move up and down and keys that opens doors and make scenes animate!

I seen 1-2 templates on line for sell, being a artist such as my self i think with one one side of the brain lol so a step by step would be a valuable tool for a lot of us that are not code friendly.

    Thanks!

A bike race free type game would be sweet. Maybe with a stars system and the accelerometer controls
