Hey all, hope you're well!

So, here we are, with another Air Supply game hot on the heels of Infinite!

I've been working on this a long, long while now (it was actually started after I finished the first AS game) but it's nearly done now I think (April hopefully).

Here's a couple of WIP shots

And here's a rough and ready vine video (6 seconds long) showing some gameplay:

(not sure if we can embed those! EDIT - We can! It happens automagically!).

UK citizens of a certain age will hopefully be grinning lots right now as they'll recognise the game's based on an old Spectrum classic by Ultimate Play the Game.

That's fine.

I won't tell anyone how old you are :D

The idea is that Quantum Sheep have been scattered around the universe. The Mothersheep (!) has tasked you with collecting them all and bringing them home!

She is, in effect, sending out an SOS - 'Save our Sheep'

In each level you'll have to fly around and pick up sheep, put them in your spaceship, and take off again!

But what's this? The Sheep have an air supply too? I wonder if it's tied in to a score multiplier maybe???

Anyway, dastardly alien scumbags stand in your way. The only answer for their kind lies at the end of a smoking laser gun!

If you've played the previous Air Supply games you can expect:

Air Supply game mechanic (air is always going down)
Pickups!
Powerups!
Unlocks-a-plenty including colour, music, characters and planets (over 10,000 combinations I think!)
The most wonderful music made on actual ZX Spectrums
A sense of humour!
No IAP - no Ads. EVER.
GameCenter leaderboards/achievements
Universal build for iphones/ipads

Phew. Well, there you have it! I hope you'll look forward to it. I'm having great fun playing, er, *working* on it myself, and I'm excited/terrified to get it into your perfectly manicured paws!

Cheers for looking!

Jetpac - first speccy game I had, it came with my machine back in 1984!

This looks great, can't wait to play.

Looking good dude! Do I detect some sort of camera movement/zooming going on in that Vine vid or do my eyes deceive me?

Thanks! The first Speccy games my brother and I bought were 'Jetpac' and 'Tranz Am' - fabulous fun! :D

    This game's for him :D

Thanks! And thanks for following on FB - I try and update that and Twitter with pics every week :)

Cheers! Your eyes can deceive you, beefy! Don't trust them!

*realises that might be lost on you as a non-Star Wars fan*

The thing about Vine is you need to record on your phone. Any blurryness/zooming is just the phone camera trying to adjust!

Also, on a game related note, Rare made its own update to Jetpac for Xbox 360 a few years ago now.

While I enjoyed it, it did have a much bigger play area and zooming in and out.

I liked it, but felt it missed the point of the original - that it's a single screen game where the tight confines add to the gameplay!

    Thanks all for looking!

@jonmulcahy Thanks! I do have plans for something Kraken-esque in the future - but it has to be right and not done 'just to do it' ;)

    @matarua Yay! Many thanks! :D

I did try and update my profile pic, but this forum software is a bit odd sometimes!

Still, now I have an 8bit sheep to add to my collection of logos :D

    Thanks!

This forum software is the definition of odd - but perhaps that is because it's a 3rd party thing rolled in to a site-wide signing in thing which signs you out but signs you in and has a clunky UI to boot. Anyway. Not complaining really are we - it does the job :) And I hope you enjoy your pixel pal :)

    He's lovely, thanks!

I've been running into an odd problem today with unlocks.

Because the game was built on the bones of the ORIGINAL Air Supply, some three years ago, and has been worked on on and off since then, there's stuff in there I'm at a loss to comprehend.

Either I was being far cleverer than I am now, or much sillier! :D

Stuff like using Modulo though has just confuzzled me. The old way of doing it doesn't seem to work for some reason with the way I did unlocks - I think it's ok now, but I spent several hours just trying to work it out!

So, progress is slow and steady right now :O

That creation of yours is a wonder of game logic skills! I give that game a full thumbs up. Great job on your game @quantumsheep and good luck with downloads and reviews. I wish I could compete with that... :)

Just a quick update on this.

The game's done, and is with Apple for review right now - hopefully out next week :)

    Here's a video:

Just wanted to thank @Socks‌ for the endless space demo he made, which helped make the space sections of SOS much more fun! Thanks, sir!

Also a thank you to @tatiang‌ for the 'writing text' demo he made - very useful, thanks :)

You'll be glad to know that I'm doing everything wrong for this game - it'll be $1.99 and won't have any ads or IAP :D

    Hope you like the vid!

I think the $1.99 with no ads or IAP is the correct way to do things but like you my thoughts are in the minority :pensive:

You always have the option of dropping it to 99c so the price drop sites pick it up but you already know that and I'm guessing it's part of your strategy.

    Best of luck,

    Darren.
