Letterbox'ing'

Hi there,

I have just uploaded my game to iTunes Connect and have chosen Letterbox for it to upscale on an iPad. It does have black bars on both the top and bottom (landscape game) which im fine with, but will Apple reject it because of this?

After scrolling through the forums I saw something regarding this topic so thought id make sure before waiting a week or so for review.

Thanks.

Sorry, yes, Apple does not accept letterboxing.

Use crop and move the actors that get cut off inwards on the iPad using "universal build" code. You can search the forum for examples.

For your next project, start with the higher resolution option of iPad, cropping to iPhone size.

Or use stretch. And I'm not actually sure they will reject it. I know they would if its the iPhone 5 version but they allow letter boxing on iPhone 4 sizes as long the iPhone 5 works I'm pretty certain. Maybe they have changed their rules again.

@tenrdrmer, as @daryljburton specifically asked about upscaling to iPad, the unfortunate answer is they will most probably reject it.

@daryljburton, please let us know what the outcome is.

Right and what I'm saying is last I knew (I don't use letterbox so I'm possibly outdated) as long as it displayed right on the iPhone 5 you could letter box it to anything else for the UB.

Could be wrong so definitely let us know what they do. In the meantime check out the stretch options in the RC build and see if that looks good for you. Most if the time it's more than acceptable as a UB option.

How i've left it is with the stretch option ticked. I tested an AdHoc on both the iPhone 5 and iPad and it seemed to have done the trick and filled the screen (not sure if i just got lucky).

I'll let you know the results still though.
