I don't see the option when exporting to convert my png to 8 bit
Make sure you have PNG selected in the drop down menu on the export. It's right above where I set the 8 bit. I'm using mountain lion version of Apple's preview.
@Braydon_SFX I think people should take a moment and give the folks who help either a comment or a like. I find it odd that people benefit yet can't take a moment to offer a simple click or type thanks.

Yep, I agree with you. While I enjoy and appreciate your videos, I'm not giving you any likes or reactions. You're a little too close to me in the ranks now that they've sorted it out...

BTW, I have am building an app with most PNG created in Illustrator saved as PNG-24. They work fine after updating to 0.11.0etc today. One images I modified in Photoshop (before the update) to add some shading. Saved that one in Photoshop as PNG-24 and crap, this one sometimes gives a blank and sometimes it works. Even in the same upload. Just switching scenes and back makes it suddenly work. Trying to figure out what's wrong now. First building an adhoc.
Ow, I got it the other way around in my head. I've been having a long day of saladering. I should probably put down my spoon and start cooking Diner. Thanks mate.
Yeah PNG 24 out of photoshop is fine. My images were an animation sequence rendered out of motion as still images. So the trick worked fine for me.
People shouldn't get confused about 8 bit in relation to the color channel as was posted in the image thread by GS
"My images still have transparency/color saturation issues after trying Method 1.
Your images might be 16 bits/channel or other. GameSalad (which depends on OpenGL) only supports 8 bits/channel. Use Method 2 to batch convert your images to 8 bits/channel. If this is a recurring issue, check your image authoring program settings and choose 8 bits/channel to avoid the ongoing issue."
You'll notice in preview I change it to 8 bit/channel not PNG 8 two different things.

Confusing. Thanks for the info. Much appreciated.
I think the title of this video is confusing (only the title, not the content), what people don't want to be doing is converting their images to 8 bit images

Nice one @The_Gamesalad_Guru, nice, clear and simple!
I see 19 views so if you use the method you owe me a Like, awesome et...
Good job man, keep up the good work

I see what you did there...
The urge I have to ask peeps for reaction points when posting a video is pretty high -- but I refrain. :P
Good post.

They should work fine !
The new system has issues with some kinds of 8 bit images.
8 bit images are what we want to avoid.
24 bit images are what we want to be using (or 32 bit with transparency / alpha channel)
