Ways to promote your app?

I was just wondering if anyone can give out any helpful tips to promote an app

    Take a prominent world leader hostage, dress them up as the main character from your game and get them to read out a scripted message on video saying how awesome your games is and when it will be available. If possible also get some footage of the hostage playing the game while laughing and occasionally turning to camera and saying 'this sure is good, it looks so simple and so badly made, and yes the relentless iAds can be off-putting, but it really is fun to play'.
