Developer Select now fails if you do not use Amazon adverts/sdk

jigglybeanjigglybean Member Posts: 1,584

I've recently updated a game and using chartboost for adverts. However, its just lost it's Developer Select status because -

Issues
•App displays advertisements but is not integrated with Amazons mobile ad SDK

Is there a way to do this? Or does GS have any plans? Amazon are just a pain in the arse changing rules and not keeping us updated about these changes.

Another app, that uses chartboost appears to be fine but I haven't updated that one since Feb. /sigh

I think it has been like this for a few months now, my only apps to qualify for it are my paid ones. :(

Interesting. This is the first update on a free app I have done in a while, which could explain why my older game is still ok. Either way, its very annoying as Amazon just shutdown everything outside of their little world.

I've submitted a ticket, lets see what the wizards at GS towers can do

We have looked into the issue. Amazon's Ad sdk integration is a requirment for the Developer Select program but not for apps to go on to the amazon store. We have added a feature request to our bug database. Please vote for this if this is an import feature to you.

Thanks. Its very annoying when they move the goal posts. Its a loss of 500k impressions of free advertising too.

Apps can still go live, just not qualify for dev select despite meeting the long winding list of requirements.

Yep some time feel like I am playing a game of Calvinball when trying to keep up with all the app stores rules.

Just to update on this. It appears that both Amazon and Google have had a spat.

As such any adverts using Chartboost that link to Google Play are being rejected for the Developer Select program. I submitted an 'amazon' version with a separate CHartboost ID for Amazon and bingo, it got through.

Although, like many others, we got a big email about the new Amazon SDK with all its bells and whistles
