Currently publishing for first time, few questions.

hey guys. So my first game is finally finished, and im in the publishing process at the moment. Im just a little confused about a few things:

  • I built the app in iPad Portrait, and made sure that Overscan worked on all other resolutions. Do i need to publish the game in all of the resolutions, or just publish in iPad and tick the Overscan box?
  • Does the Custom loading screen act as a splash screen? or does it appear whenever your app is loading, such as between scene changes?
  • Should i have both a custom loading wheel AND a custom loading screen, or should i choose one or the other? (if the loading screen and wheel appear at the same time, it might look a bit ridiculous.

    @MarpCark ,

    if overscan works and displays correctly on all resolutions, then you just publish one app under Universal Build, not iPad or iPhone individually.

    "Custom loading wheel" is a small image that is used to indicate that your app is doing something while a change of scene is taking place.

    The "custom loading screen" only gets displayed once on startup of your app. It could be your company logo for example.

    So, ideally you should use both.

    1. If you want the game to be published for all iOS devices use the Universal Publishing option instead of the iPad option. Still choosing Overscan as you mention.
    2. The custom loading screen acts as a splash screen that only displays when you launch an app that is fully closed/quit the first time. They do not show between scenes or if you open an already running app.
    3. The custom loading wheel will replace the standard Apple spinning lines when new information is being loaded. It's not necessary to replace it but many people hate Apples so they do.

    @Hopscotch @jamie_c , ok thanks. a couple more questions if you don't mind? It would be nice to publish to Android and Windows 8 as well, but would i need to set up a similar thing to the iTunes Connect? Or will it publish to them automatically like it will with the GS Arcade if i choose? Also @jamie_c i build the whole game in iPad, and i can't find an option for 'Universal Publishing', just a big list of IOS Devices, or do you mean it is located outside of the Creator? Thanks guys :)
    EDIT: Nevermind jamie, i just understood what you meant, yeah I've chosen Universal in the publishing, its all good :)

    @MarpCark, sounds like you found it but the Universal Option is part web based publishing portal.

    To publish to Android and Windows devices you need to do that separately from the iOS and sign up with the appropriate app stores for those devices.

    @jamie_c ok cheers.
    one last question, regarding screenshots. I have taken 4 screenshots of my project for the iTunes Connect profile and GS Arcade, all in iPad Portrait (768x1024). What do i have to do to get the screenshots for all the other resolutions (3.5inch, 4inch, 4.7inch and 5.5inch)? i tried changing the resolution in the preview but the screenshots are still coming out as 768x1024.
