Success with Install Ads

Hey guys,

Hoping to hear from those that have had any success with the Facebook or Twitter install ads to promote their game (or any other advertising channel), and if so, how much you had to spend before seeing effective results? Were there significant differences between Free vs. Paid app ads, countries targeted, etc.?

Obviously the more you spend, the more clicks/installs you'd theoretically get (e.g. $1,000 burst promo in one day would likely work much better than $30/day for a month). For this reason, I think it would be helpful to know some suggested budgets/campaign durations based on your experience for it to even be worth the time and investment. Thanks for your input in advance!

i do facebook app install campaigns of around 100 euro paying CPC for games i believe in. Giving some extra boost to the launch of it. Duration 2 days.

Just make sure you narrow your target market down. With facebook, you can do. My last campaign was a test run and from 29k impressions just 63 people installed the app - which was extremely odd, because my android developer says 40 installs over the same period.

The thing with facebook is that they use click farms and come hell or high water they want your cash. Which is probably a key reason why they are making so much money from advertising right now.

I actually ran a Facebook ad campaign back in the day for Facebook Likes, and after spending about $50 I realized the followers were completely useless and appeared to be spam users. I've heard of various people achieving really strong success with FB install ads, however, but only after spending thousands.

@BigDave I'm assuming you spent 100 euros per day for 2 days? did you notice a reasonable lift in downloads to justify it?

jep i see the impact. I do not run "like" campaigns I also tried this 1.5 years ago = click farms and unengaged users.

I run app install campaigns. ( use button text "use app" not install etc.)
Most likely to create an install out of the click.
