Can Gamesalad access user location?

I have this idea of an app where the player's city is written on the top of the screen

Is that possible in Gamesalad?

There is no access to GPS or other location data through GameSalad.

Yes, we are sure. There is no GPS access. :)

If you wanted to ask your players to input their city name when they first launch the game, you could do that. Then display the name on screen as needed. But you can't do it automatically.

If you play GTA4 and find "Bigfoot" in the forest then you will get a prompt with a code and if you then take the code part after "GS" and enter it in the expression editor then you will receive full GPS access within Game Salad... or so legend says...

i submitted a feature request for this back in september:

    http://bugs.gamesalad.com/show_bug.cgi?id=281

only 2 other people voted for it, so i don't think many people care

It would be awesome if GS supported more of the built in things from phones like GPS, Camera, Microphone, etc. It would also be awesome if we had access to raw HTML 5 code for HTML 5 projects. Then I could create banner ads and such for my clients instead of using Flash. But all of those things remove focus from Gamesalads game engine I guess and they don't take priority.

crazy that simply requesting that info from apple/google is not in GS

I'm no programmer, but I suspect it's not as 'simple' to add those features to the engine as you might like to think. :)

I don't doubt that at all, but see it more as having to do with maybe not wanting the architecture on GS backend? Due to 'free' publishing/hosting?
If these features are not available on Pro version, then this is not as robust as I thought and I need to keep looking at software

@ant_lad, they are not in the Free or Pro version I'm afraid.

Things like GPS location, microphone, camera roll etc. are exactly the sort of things they could make Pro features to drive subscriptions, so I suspect it's simply a matter of not enough people to get everything done that they need to get done.

Yeah maybe. Even mitai2 has these & this seems like a more evolved version of ai2
