Armelline's GameSalad Tips - A video series
So now all the commotion has died down a bit, I thought I'd post some links to a few short videos I put together. The idea of these videos is to give a series of tips and tricks to help you get the most out of GameSalad.
These aren't tutorials, and you may find you know some, most or all of these things. They're just little things I have discovered using GameSalad that I've found handy, and wanted to share with you too. I plan to make these a regular thing, and have videos for 5 more made and 5 more after that planned out, so look out for more soon!
Tip #1: Moving things Off-screen
Tip #2: The max() and min() functions
Tip #3: More than 50 tables
Tip #4: Keyboard navigation
Tip #5: More space to Preview
More coming soon!

Thanks for sharing and for the great effort. I am sure these will come in handy and useful for many users. I love the tables trick ...
Now I have a voice to put with that rabbit...good job!
Awesome stuff. Great job, and keep them coming!
You've had one of those for a while :P I did a Meetup presentation, and I've posted at least one little throwaway video before :P
Glad people are enjoying them though!
More of these @Armelline! Great stuff.
@Armelline Absolutly this is awesome! Very clean title graphics and timing, no nonsense, in and out . Brilliant
@Armelline Awesome, thank you! A lot of your tutorials and vids help me greatly. Especially for the game I'm currently building. I look forward to seeing more tips
Hey I was away the last six months...
@neoman @NipaDidIt @Hopscotch @floatingwoo @As Of Latte Thanks! More coming tomorrow!
@Armelline -- Great video tips. Keep 'em coming!
@Armelline Nice tips Videos are short and sweet
Those sweet table hacks.
I'll ask around and see if the limit is still necessary or if it can be increased. I'm still a n00b when it comes to actually making stuff in Creator, but what do you use more than 49 tables for?
Levels! Most things you can use 1 huge table for, but doing so is not ideal as it involves tracking which portion of the huge table you need to access for each level, and if you add a level you have to export/add/reimport.
I've been working on another project that I can't get into any details about but it requires lots of tables to manage player stats, and those can't be combined into one big table for good reasons.
Tip #6: Copy/pasting expressions
Tip #7: Find which actors use an attribute
Love #7, helpful when you have tons of actors!
Tip 8: Use tags to tame the actors list
Tip 9: Save colours with the colour picker
Tip 10: Easily toggle a boolean attribute
The next set will really kick things up a notch! If more than a handful of people already know a couple of them I'll be impressed!
Very useful tips! I already knew most of the ones you released, so i'm really looking forward to the next ones.
@NipaDidIt @ice cream More coming soon, glad you enjoyed them!
You're a video machine!
Very nice! Great tips!
great tips.. Number 7 doesn't work for me when i delete the attribute it just deletes it and i don't get a warning window to cancel.
@Armelline
Just watched the tip #6.
You mentioned the copy and paste method, but there is a method you did not mention. You can copy expressions from expression editor to another by simply selecting the whole expression (cmd+A) then just drag and drop it to another expression editor.
Great tip! I'll add it to a future tip if that's okay with you!
Are you on Windows? I've never tried it on Windows. If you're on Mac, that just means the attribute isn't used by anything at all.
Wow...these are awesome.. Tip#8 is a huge time saver!

Tip 12: Type to Find in Actors Lists
Thank you @Armelline !
Tip 13: Save Time With Custom Rules
