Have a Retina Mac? Sick of muddy GS icons? Despair no further!

If any of you are like me, things like muddy low-res icons drive you crazy (yup, I'm sure I have OCD, to an extent).

Well, groan no longer! It got to a point where I couldn't bear it anymore and spent the last two days creating an updated set of GS icons! Most of them are simply optimized for retina displays, but there are some that got a fresh look, to fall better in line with modern icon sets on OS X. I've also removed the gloss effect from some UI elements for a flatter look, which suits retina displays better.

You will find an archive of the whole set attached to this message. All you need to do is uncompress the archive and copy all .png files into GameSalad>Contents>Resources, overwriting all original files!

You will find this folder by CTRL-clicking on the GameSalad app icon and selecting 'Show Package Contents'

WARNING: Do not attempt to edit any files inside the App Package, as it will break GameSalad Creator!

This set is absolutely free for personal use! If you appreciate it a lot, a do wish to contribute something small for my work, I'll appreciate it of course, and you can PM me about it, but absolutely no strings attached for personal use!

Enjoy!

One sample screenshot (but better try it out in action, and more icons are in the set than in the screenshot):

Great idea! One of those little changes that makes more difference than you'd think :D

True that, for me without doubt. In this case, I just decided to do it myself, instead of asking GS for it, since I prefer if the team focuses on the coding. ;)

My only critique is that I'd like the triangle to be more equilateral, but definitely using these!

Changed. It does look better. Updated set in OP.

If anyone has any other suggestions, I'm definitely open to them.

Yeah I reckon grey would look good.

And a seasonal set. Christmas is around the corner!

Looks great! GS could easily implement this in to the next build (with your permission) without any ease for sure. Lets hope they do! (only to save us doing it every update!)

    Thank you for the share.

That would be more of a separate project, rather than just a tweak. A lot of the icons would need to be re-thought to work entirely in monochrome (perhaps punched with a wee bit of color here and there for effect). If GS wanted to hire me as a freelancer to do some work on the graphical side of things, I'd definitely consider it.

For the moment though, now that the low-res icons aren't there to haunt me, I should focus again on my game projects. ;)

I'm still open to small tweaks of the current set, if people have good ideas, though.

Bumping for users not present at the end of last week.

The set is attached to the opening post!

Just noticed after updating to 13.30, that two icons went missing in the archive. The 'initial state' button, which is crisp in the screenshot I posted is one of them. The second is the 'snapshot' button when previewing your project. Both have now been included in pack v1.2; attached to this post!
