With iOS 9 being released next week, we will be dropping support for iOS 6 in the next build. This will effect the following devices iPhone 3GS and the iPod Touch 4 gen. All published apps starting with the next build will have the min iOS set to 7.

@BlackCloakGS No Problem , but please give complete support for iOS 9 without crashes and good loading times...hardware is improving in every release of iOS devices ,but our GameSalad apps are not loading fast, and scene change time also increased with new release..no need new features...please increase performance of engine .

Loading times does seem to be the most pressing issue right now. Even taking into account Creator.

Does this affect games that are already published with iOS 6 support?

So if I update an old game that has iOS 6 support, will everything be fine if the update doesn't support iOS 6 anymore?

Yes because every one is talking about how fast loading apps and games...with new ipad pro.

Well people playing it on iOS 6 will no longer be able to play it if they update, but I'm pretty sure they don't even get offered the update if their OS isn't supported.

@BlackCloakGS this will also affect iPad 1.

@colander The iPad 1's highest support OS is 5.1.1. This is already not supported since right now our min iOS is 6.

@BlackCloakGS on the publishing server the "minimum supported OS version" is 5.0, 5.1.1, 6.0, 7.0 and 8.0. If you drop support for 6.0 I assume you will no longer support 5.0 and 5.1.1. At the moment all my games work on iPad 1 with minimum supported OS 5.0. Correct?

If you publish with the newest version of GameSalad and create a new game in with our publishing server the min OS is 6.0. If you have older games published on older GameSalad version those games will not be effected until republished with a newer version of GameSalad Creator.

@BlackCloakGS ok got it. What was the last version of Creator which supported 5.0 and 5.1.1 and will we still be able to publish with it?

  • BlackCloakGSBlackCloakGS Member, PRO Posts: 2,250

If you are a GameSalad Pro subscriber you can use older version of GameSalad Creator.

@BlackCloakGS was the last version of Creator to support iOS 5.0 v0.12.20? I want to know so I can get it and keep it incase I want to continue supporting my existing games on older devices in the future.

Agreed, definitely happy to see the iOS minimum finally be 7. I think loading times is the only thing I'm having a ton of difficulty with especially with the most recent builds @BlackCloakGS

are you able to remove armv7 from required device capabilities in the plist? This simple change would allow old apps to be updated without running into the UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities issue.
