I read that Angry Birds has topped 4 million downloads world wide, so i got my calc out and at 59p at 4 million x 36p (revenue) = £1,440.000 pretty good for one app. I also read that the developers of Angry Birds have been approached by Microsoft to bring games to their Windows 7 mobile platform but they maked it off!!
noone knows for sure as most companies dont reveal sales info other than larger corporations quarterly reports that are federally required (i think)
Typically less than 10% result in a rating though so you can get an idea that way.
It can be skewed though as some popular games have a larger dedicated fan base and the rating rate can be higher.
If you see that a game has 22,877 rating for its current version its safe to say its officially somewhere in the neighbor hood of a buttload of downloads.
One could always email a smaller dev. Many are friendly and active on many forums,
