Hi there!

Im trying to work out whether i can advertise my New app within another app..

I ONLY want this advertised in this particular app..

Is there a way of doing this?

i could create a scene (which would be the advert) but can i add a link to download it?

thanks

Sure, you would create an ad just like any other actor in your game and attach a URL Behavior to it. When that actor is touched send the player to the app URL on the app store.

thanks Jamie - I just read about the URL sometimes not working? I copied the URL form the app store on my MOB - hopefully that'll work as i don't have the game set up on ht emac store so couldnt get the link. )

just use the 'openURL' behavior in the way you would like to…

for the correct links: goto iTunes connect and within your app section scroll down till you see 'view on App Store' then use that link :)
    works like a charm.

@sarahbush, once you have created the app to itunes, before even uploading anything, there will be a "View on the App Store" link under App Information.

This link goes to an empty page at this point, but will be the eventual link to your app once it is published.

Is Apple ok with one advertising one's app(s) within another? Curious about this.

@mhedges , yes you can, if you don't make it look similar to the App Store itself.

Meaning, don't fool the user into thinking they are already on the App Store.

Thanks, @Hopscotch . So could it be something like:

    1. Add a button, Display Text "(c) 2015 marcoshedges", and add an Open URL behavior linked to the App Store?
    2. Adding a "More Games" button and add an Open URL behavior linked to the App Store?
    3. Adding several buttons with the apps' respective icons and each having its own Open URL behavior linked to each particular app in the App Store?

    Thanks,
    Marcos

@mhedges all the above are fine, just keep the following in mind:

    • don't offer incentives for downloads
    • don't recreate even a passing resemblance of the app store

These will most likely get you rejected at review time.

    @Hopscotch,

Do you think something like this would fly? Clicking on the buttons would take you to their respective URLs.

@mhedges, yes, that should be fine.
