Attribute based search

I'm thinking of an additional feature in GS which I believe to help the users immensely.
An attribute based search where you will be able to find exactly where this or that attribute is used in the coding.

For example I have an boolean attribute named "jump"

Under "Attributes" I double click on the attribute I want and it will be highlighted in my coding, so I when a certain attribute is causing trouble in the game I can go and check its coding and fix it.

What do you guys think? Should this feature be added?

You can find it another way. If you go and select a game attribute and hit minus to delete it a warning popup comes up telling you which actors that variable is used in.

(It goes without saying that you should have extra copies of your project file before you do that.)

No, I know that... but I still think caution is necessary. One wrong click...

Haha, I think I don't have the courage to do that

Or you save your project before you click on the minus button. #norisk :sunglasses:

@Approw You'd be surprised if you haven't experienced this but there are things you can lose by saving, deleting, and restoring a GameSalad project file. A good example is deleting an image from the Library and then restoring the saved file which will then be missing that particular image (unless that's been fixed recently).

Same here, I've been using the same method for years without any issues, start to delete the attribute then cancel the deletion once you' ve checked out where the attribute is being used.

Seeing that you guys do that, I think it would be pretty reasonable if GS team added a feature where certain attributes if chosen are highlighted in the coding

I agree that it would be helpful, as would the ability to print out an actor's rules in a text-based/printer-friendly format.

Make a feature request! GameSalad rely heavily on them to track what people want. Even if they see a forum post like this, they'll likely forget if there isn't a feature request.
