    @gattoman, I'd be interested in hearing others thoughts on good general game design books (or other sources of information) as well.

    The two best books are "A theory of fun for game design" by Raph Koster this is considered the bible of game design. the second is "Game Design 120 Solutions" by Wendy Despain.

    Thinkertoys by Michael Michalko. Not specifically game design, but creative thinking in general. Highly recommended!
