I don't know what I need to upload my own actors. I guess I'm asking what I need to know to upload or design my own.

    Any image editor will work. I use Photoshop and Illustrator.

    Inkscape is my current weapon of choice. Microsoft Image Composer may be used for very particular needs, but then I have to run to a Windows PC.

    You can buy images or use images you search with Google for free. You can pay someone to make images for you. Please don't publish a game with images that you don't have a right to use. But you can play around with them and learn.

    Just drag them into gamesalad in PNG format.

    @monsterhybrid Mac or PC?

    On Mac, Affinity Designer is great for creating vector graphics and/or bitmap graphics, ArtText 2 makes designing buttons, text graphics and logos quite easy (Art Text 2 Lite is free but will give you a taste) and Anime Studio Debut will introduce you to 2D animation.

    All three have an extensive suite of video tutorials that are short, concise and cover specific tools or aspects of the respective program.
