Movement Help - Curves?

Two.ETwo.E Member Posts: 599

Hello GS!

Is there any resource or idea on how to have an actor move in a curve like movement based on pre-determined X, Y positions.

I am not the best at maths regarding sin, cos, but the current solution I have, is to points along the curve and have it cycle through. Was hoping for a more easier solution.

Any ideas?

Best,
Two.E

i thought there was a template a couple of years ago that showed you all the various waves, etc but i’m not 100% on that.

i’ll see if i still have it and will let you know.

Not sure if this is exactly what you need (and even if it's not, you may be able to tweak it to get what you are looking for), but @ORBZ and I put this demo together years ago.

@bob loblaw That sounds like it could be useful!

@Braydon_SFX Nice demo! - but unfortunately not really what I am looking for. Thats more about rotation than movement along a line. Please stop wasting my time  /s

Here is a way to plot the path through three given coordinates. Notice that the path creates a parabola. (It uses the quadratic equation.)

I found the following video by Armelline very informative. Perhaps it's not exactly what you're looking for, but with a little creativity it can be.
Anyway, I found my 6.5 minutes to be very well spent watching that video!

Thanks all. Just going through now to see what will work. So many great demos and ideas. I really appreciate it!
If I have a solution - I will update with logic.
