POKI

Hello everyone, since GS has shifted towards HTML5 as its core development platform, I was wondering how far it is from being able to integrate the Poki SDK. Poki is a platform for HTML5 games that could be interesting for small developers and might fit GS like a glove.

Would anyone else be interested in publishing and monetizing their games through Poki?

Or is it just me? :)

Hi @Armelline I don’t know if you’ve seen the post—since you have more experience, what do you think about this?

I understand this is the direction things are heading: https://forums.gamesalad.com/discussion/99096/wip-html5-engine-delegate-how-to-document#latest

But honestly, I’m a bit out of my depth on this topic.

I'd love to see it but wouldn't personally have any immediate use for it.

Hi, I'm interested in HTML5 development, but Poki never responds when I try to submit my games.

For those interested, they do have a form for submitting games: Submit Your Games.

However, there's no guarantee they will reply to you!

So, in short, before worrying about supporting their SDK—which you can try to manage using some AI available out there on the web—focus instead on creating a game that can truly capture their interest. Also, there’s no point avoiding this: if there are slowdowns or long load times, especially on mobile devices, they will never respond to you!

Hi @pinkio75 , thanks for your response.

I’m bringing up this topic because I’m already in direct contact with them. I understand they don’t usually respond to game submissions and have a filter in place. However, in this case, they’ve reached out to us… so, in a way, that filter has already been cleared. I wanted to evaluate how feasible it might be to develop in GS, as using Unity for HTML5 makes the game’s size unmanageable.

If integrating the SDK isn’t too difficult, I can coordinate with them to see how far GS could go in joining the repertoire of supported development platforms. And while it’s clear that nothing can be promised, if that door were to be opened, it could allow others to follow through it later on.

hi, okey so you can try!

I hope that they accept your game; this could be a good thing for us GS devs.

You need to modify the sample-index.html to add their SDK.

Ok, thanks... I have no idea what you're talking about! hahaha

Where can I read about how to make that modification to add to the SDK... I'm afraid the topic is beyond me?

I didn't test this (just wrote it as a first pass), but hopefully this will be helpful!
