Actor size for side shooter?

What size is good for a side scrolling shooter similar to Kraken for the iPod? And what if i was to make one for the iPad, whats a good size?

One consideration is how fast your game is - i.e. how quickly an enemy moves when they're on-screen.
It's certainly tempting to have large player ships, but the player has to have time to react to the action too.
The ship in Kraken is 24x24 - smaller than I'd usually like because I wanted to give the Kraken a sense of scale - of being huge.
So really, it depends on the type of game you're making!
