My understanding, and I'm not an accountant or tax pro by ANY stretch of the word, is that a company only collects sales tax in a state if that company has a physical presence in that state. Since Apple has retail stores all over the world they tend to charge sales tax even if you buy online.
Gendai doesn't have physical presence in every state whatever state they are in though probably requires sales tax. But I dunno if they are even a US company.
That's my $0.02 and it's worth about $0.02 so this is no way is to be considered really good advice.
