Just wondering if anyone has any ideas on how to work a scope or binoculars into a game.

Yes im back and I have an idea for a game that would require this ability. to be more specific I only want a small circle to be "zoomed in" while the remainder of the screen is still at normal distance.

I was thinking of multiple layers and one having a circle cut out to reveal the "zoomed in" background.

let me know what you guys think

me too, I have not yet booted my mac back up to give the ol' GS a try again, but I plan on getting around to it this weekend.

so far what I was thinking was this

bottom layer is my image at normal view

the next layer is a zoomed in version where all you see is the circle, but somehow the remainder of the image is transparent that way you can still see the normal view as long as the circle is not over it.
