Armv7 restriction not working / how to change device family?

gamesmoldgamesmold Member, PRO Posts: 279
Hi there,

I created a game that does not run on a 3G iPhone, but it runs well very well on 3GS, iPhone 4 and iPad.

So now I activated the Armv7 check box when publishing and now the game won't install on my 3GS! iTunes says the app is not compatible to my phone. I'm running iOS 3.0 and I'm sure the 3GS has an Armv7. What am I doing wrong?

Or is there any way to restrict to the 3GS and newer devices on iTunes connect?

Thanks in advance,
Thomas

    If you don't mind, I'll join your question, and ask: what the heck is Armv7? I saw it while publishing my game but I have no idea what it is.

    Thanks!

    Well, ARMv7 appears to be the name of the CPU architecture since iPhone 3GS.

    Found it on the web as follows:
    ARMv7 = iPhone 3GS/4, iPod 3G, iPad
    ARMv6 = iPhone 2G/3G, iPod 1G/2G

    Requiring ARMv7 would be exactly what I need, but for some reason, the published AdHoc and release build won't run on my 3GS when requiring ARMv7.

    Yes, iTunes says (in german language, I try to translate) that the application "is not compatible to my iPhone device".

    If I do not activate the ARMv7 restriction, the app installs well and everything works fine.
