Let's brainstorm about promoting our app(s)!

Hi,
Let's brainstorm about promoting our apps and come up with ideas we can try to bring more attention to what we do and where others can find our work.
The app store is a bottomless pit and growing bigger every day (partly because of me ... and you) so I wonder If there is a better way to point at our apps so that we are not at the mercy of the search box.

Anyone?

I was wondering the same thing. The only thing I have come up with is promoting my apps on Facebook and Twitter, but that seems like a pretty basic approach. Does anyone else have any good marketing ideas???

I was reading this article earlier. Found from a post a while back.

I've submitted a to a few of them so far.

Every so often someone comes along with "like" my facebook page posts but most people seem to post requesting likes but never go around and like everyone else in return.

So here's my face book page. If you would post any you have I would be glad to like in return.

Good post. I'd be interested to hear what Joe of FMG or what Darren at Utopian think.

I was thinking that initially targeting a narrow audience would be the best approach, and trying to get some exposure in that field - whatever your game is about. Our first games are about insects (a mix of entertainment and education), so I'll try and get a mention in nature/wildlife zines etc.

I just found something that might be of interest for those of us who live in a major city in north america.

Since my apps are not games but teaching aids for children to learn, I will use craigslist to advertise. Maybe there is a way to re phrase a craigslist ad so that a game could be sold too?

So,my strategy all in all will be:
Press release via a friend connection with ABC radio - he will do that for me
Local newspapers - sensational new software that cuts weeks of practicing dow to minutes
Craigslist - to find music teachers who might commission an app of their own
