Do the promo codes I have downloaded from version 1 become invalid once version 1.0.1 is released.
Also would have 20 or so promo code downloads in a day raise my ranking on the app store?

Im thinking of dumping all of my remaining promo codes a day before the update release to boost my position but also hoping codes I have sent to review sites that have not be redeemed will not become invalid.

    Yes they will become invalid

    Promo codes don't affect rankings

    well then how did I get up to top 500 day one when I had like 1 download and 8 promos?

    when did that happen? It was only a little while ago that Promo Codes stopped counting towards ranking.

    Also, if you request 50 promo codes for 1.0, and 1.01 is approved and released the next day, you can request 50 more for a total of 100 promo codes. Promo codes once requested will last for 4 weeks and then they expire, releasing a new version in that window does not break them.

    But, if you have 30 unrequested promo codes for 1.0, and 1.01 comes out, you only have 50 you can request.

    I'll prob still dump all the 1.0 codes a day or two before 1.0.1
