hey guys,
as the title suggests, this is my entry saying that I will be in this TOTB2. But as of this post, I have been racking my brain since friday to get something good for this competition. And I think I found it. My project will be about aliens, which are snow men, that have to get back together, like snowmen. But I have nothing to show you that would be interesting. So I guess I'm just reserving my spot in this competition. Me, being a 14 year old probably wont win, but I hope I get somewhere.
I shall keep you posted......

ok guys, some actual stuff about my game. Its called.. wait for it...Snowmen Escape! I know, cool right? So anyway the game is based around the theory that snowmen are actually aliens. They crash landed in Roswell,NM and where soon transported to Antarctica. The aliens consist of three parts, a large bottom section, a middle and a top (like a snowman) and where being experimented on under the Arctic when there was a large tremor and all the humans fled. It soon was blotted out of the government books and was never remembered. 30 years later the first alien(s) awake!!!!

So gameplay is taking place in the testing rooms, the whole goal being to get the snowmen from being in three parts, to being a snowman. Once in their snowman form they can use there transporters to beam them out of there. So far all I have is some ice, a box, and three snowmen parts. The head piece being the only one that can jump, the middle section having the ability to operate machinery (because of the arms) and the bottom being really big and slow.
So its nothing much right now but I will keep you posted!

Ok guys, so the game is coming out pretty well. I haven't gotten to make much improvement, (stupid homework :/) but I have two level so far, and some nice placeholder graphics. I have also spent the last 24 hours cooking up the control scheme for the game. I think that on screen controllers should take up as little space as possible, I have only five buttons. on the bottom of the screen I have positioned two movement controllers, one for right and one for left. Then I have a "special" button and one button to switch between snow parts (as opposed to two) and of course, the pause button.

Whats the special button you ask? Well each snow part has a special ability. The bottom pieces special is that he gets a speed boost and can ram stuff, effectively breaking stuff. The middle piece can operate technology (cause the arms) and the top can be shot out of cannons. This is all pending at the moment but I think it will work nicely. I've been playing too muck portal and have decided to have the technology in each chamber spacing out and talking in wobbly voices to you, or something like that. But, yet again, this is all on hold right now, as I only have two levels, but i'm hoping to impliment as much cool GameSalad stuff as I can. I know I'm not getting first (well duh), but I'm shootin' for third.

    I shall keep you posted...

I IS SO HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!! Why you ask? Well after I posted the previous post I thought everything was working fine. Then I go to preview and the special button doesn't work! The computer was playing tricks on me, the big snow actor wasn't really accelerating (like it would when I pressed the special button) I just thought it was (never preview late at night :/) But I finaly got it to work!

I'm also contemplating wether to add lasers or not. This was something I wanted to do it the beginning, but now I'm not so sure. See, I wanted to have it so that you would push some ice under the laser and it would go through the ice and reflect to somewhere else. But thats stupid because 1) ICE WILL MELT, and 2) ICE WILL MELT! the thing is though i don't want to do mirrors (for obvious reasons) but I still want to have the laser bending effect. O well, I guess thats just another sleepless night wandering what to do...

    I shall keep you posted...

    Well this is awesome.

I now have three levels, WITH FIRE!!!!(on the third) and am working on implementing lasers :) I still don't know wether to make the bouncer offer thingys ice (probably not) or mirrors (i don't like 'em) or somethin' else. But whatever the case, I will be updating soon. And again guys sorry for no pics or video yet, but as I said earlier, you can play for yourself!

    I shall keep you posted...

    AHHHH!!!!! STUPID HOMEWORK!!!!!

sorry about the long delay in updates guys, but my stupid homework got in the way. but I'm not dead, I have been working.

The one thing I've been working on for a long time (or I guess two things) is 1)my website. and 2)a cool switch character effect. You know how in all of the lego games, primarily lego indian jones and lego batman, when you would switch characters the little spirit looking thingy would go from your character to the character you where switching into? If not than this is kinda awkward, but whatever the case, I have an awesome snowflake particle system that goes between my different snowparts. It looks pretty cool.

And if you've played the game you probably noticed two things. 1) that the higligts around the characters when you select them look really lame. and 2) that the place holder graphics I have aren't really that good. I am pleased to announce that I have fixed both of those, but I still need some time before I update the game.

BTW if anyone was wondering, I'm hoping for a late April/early May release, but I have a lot to do before then!

    I shall keep you posted
