Thats whatll happen. Having 2 forums will only seperate the community. You say the search is bad enough here, starting a sepereate site and splitting info to 2 sites will that reallyt help at all? no itll make it worse. Photics.com doesn't belong in that list. It's not a secondary GameSalad forum. I think the main GameSalad discussion should occur on this site. It doesn't make too much sense to have other GameSalad forums.
(I think bbPress is a horrible forum choice for a community like this, and that this forum should run on vBulletin, but that's a separate issue.)
Sure, there was a time when it looked like most of the people on this site were leaving because of GameSalad Direct®. I restarted the Photics forums so that developers could keep in touch, but it was never designed as an alternative to GameSalad... heh... except during site outages...
The main purpose of the Photics Forums is for that community — like customer service and general discussion. Sure, it's not very active right now, but I suspect that will change when my apps start getting more popular. Previously, there was a Guild Wars forum at Photics.com... but that's because the official website didn't (and still doesn't) have one.
There's been a game development forum at my site from way before GameSalad existed.
This is where I see a problem. The main idea behind my website is to build an online community... a place where people can play and discuss... a fun place to go online. Yet, GameSalad also seems to be interested in building the same thing. Our games can be hosted here. So if I'm building an online arcade, and GameSalad is building an online arcade, are we competitors?!
Anyway, the point is that the Photics Forums were not meant to fragment GameSalad discussion. They were started WAY before GameSalad existed.

There will always be criticism and people with a negative attitude - but if you don't care I don't get why you don't leave this thread and move on? I never did anything to you as far as I remember - and my offer is for those who feels like it - definitely not dragging people into it who doesn't.
Luckily I know most people rather wants to see the possibilities than the disadvantages - and again, the community should be large enough for more than one forum.
The big difference between this and my forum is, that this is the official forum. No one can take that away from them - and I never ever stated that mine was near like it. Actually everywhere I advertised it's an independent fan based forum, which it is exactly. A fan forum.

I always believed in a free market on most levels and I also do believe competition is healthy. If you don't have competition, you might think you can rest on your laurels - and then things might not be improved.
But again, I would rather think of it as a 'cooperation' than a competition.
Also, I made some forum sections now, and if I see it's not going to work like that, I might just change them into something that will.
After 4 days it's difficult to see where the need is - but I do feel there is a need for a forum like mine.
Time might prove me wrong - but then at least I can say I tried
Thanks for your efforts but I feel GS forums are getting less active as we become more knowledged about GS as well as the fact that we are all very busy trying to make games. I noticed months back that most don't care about game release announcements here and I'm guessing it's due to our busy lives as well as competitive nature. Heck I've had release posts that not a single person commented on. Sure I'm a little bothered but came to terms a long time ago that most don't give a crap, so I make my announcements elsewhere. I come here less often as I feel many here could care less about anything but themselves. I find myself signing in just to answer questions that have no responses and are several hours old if not a day or more (sad) And they aren't overly difficult questions! I just don't feel the love here like I used to.

I wasnt saying she would do great or bad. I just didnt like the attitude people were giving her. She asked permission from GS. She went about it the proper way. The Main thing I like about the idea is that maybe there will be some issues there that will be better maintained than they are here. I would love to see a page dedicated to Artist Looking For work. Nothing on that page but a listing of artist who want to work for GS game makers. Small portfolios showing their type of art and pricing. Id like to see a page dedicated to all those who want to make trailers for GS game makers. With a small portfolio with some of their works and pricing. But again. I dont see it as seperating a community. I see it as another branch. Its not like people are moving from california to florida. Its a url thats 1 click away. I just think people like to make mountains out of mole hills.
If she can take some of the things this forum is lacking on and improve on it. Im all for it. But to say a URL that is one click away ... is going to ruin a already built community????? I dont see it.

Thumps up for what chaser said happened with me also no one just bothers here to answer your problems or is it like they just dont have time or knowledge to answer many of them have become so professional now that they only visit these forums to sell their services. no help for others.i have to delete my posts because no one ever answered them and i have stopped asking questions related to gs in this forum.

Looking at the recent posts right now, not a single one is without a reply. It feels like the opposite is in action here. If I see an unanswered post, I have to respond quickly... or someone will answer the post before I can.
I see plenty of issues with this forum, but helpfulness is not one of the major issues that I see.
I dont think its fair to say that nobody answers questions anymore, unfortunately you may ask a question at a busy time on the forum and it can get pushed down the list very quickly by activity in other posts, also i think a lot of people read the forums by latest discussions and not always individual cats.
Already using the new forum and loving it. Thank you for putting in the time and effort as it is highly appreciated. I will continue to use these forums as a source of news but I like the community feel at the new one as well. I can only see it help in growing the entire Gamesalad fan base as a whole since searching when you first start out new will be much easier when looking for specific topics. Great work.

The only videos posted are the cookbooks on YouTube - not on this forum - and the links in the media goes directly into the GameSalad YouTube channel, as all info is also shown.

I want to thank every one of you who has given me great support so far, not only here and on the forum, but also from those giving it to me in private pm's - facebook and mails (also from those of you not yet members :P).
I assure you I will do the best I can to full fill the wishes you might have to make GSF a great place - and I created a thread late yesterday evening, asking for eventual wishes for sections / tools / lol smilies :P you name it.
The next plan is to create a navigation top drop down with links to different tools, an "advertising" page etc.
The "advertising" page is something I need to create from scratch, or even get someone to create for me - but the idea is that everyone who wish to advertise a game, can get a small profile in there with pictures and links.
Small 'not that serious' updates coming up: - more smilies - 'moods' - Trophy system (with more reward possibilities)
