Copyright problem

If i took a picture...(http://www.gomediazine.com/tutorials/illustrator/draft-create-vector-art-twitter-icon-character-adobe-illustrator/) and edited it (like changed colour and used only the head and changed the direction of the head feathers) could i be held for copyright?

    no if you changed color and direction of feathers its not create copyright issue for this demo.
