Game Center Etiquette

I was reading in the "Unofficial Guide" that it can be considered bad form to try to auto sign a player into Game Center when they start your game. I noticed that Angry Birds and several other popular apps seem to do that however.

What are your thoughts on trying to sign someone into Game Center without them asking to?

If you don't auto sign someone in when do you do that? I'm thinking of having a "Post Score" button in my game over and that would sign them in and post the score.

Thanks for your input.

Like some other users I'm using a enable/disable gamecenter button. Then when enabled allow log in, posting, leaderboard etc.

So, just so I understand, my Post Score button on my Game Over scene should also save an attribute that gets read the next time they start the game and logs them in? Is that what you are suggesting?

    Thanks.

I actually created a prompt based off the ratings prompt demo from in Alpha Balls that popped up a message the first time the game loaded asking if they would like to enable game center.

And then save what ever they choose.

This way they don't forget to enable it later on.
