Custom Font issue

Looked at TB's custom score video tut, did everything exactly as instructed but it's not working. When I press the play button to test the scene, the score numbers which I dragged into the scene are white boxes. Not sure what's up here.
Also, I realized in TB's tut, the score images (0 - 9) he imported all say .png after the file name (1.png, 2.png, 3.png etc..). My images only say 1 or 2 or 3 etc, no .png afterwards.
Can someone give me a hand here please.
