    I think he's referring to the 3D graphics shown.

    There's several ways to fake this - mainly to do with graphics.

    The 'tunnel' effect could just be graphics animating - after all, there's no actual 'collision' needed for the tunnel by the looks of things.

    The targets are just graphics again, scaled to make them look like they're coming closer.

    It's all smoke and mirrors really.

    And maybe a trap door or two!
