GS Viewer app?

This is a silly question, but why don't the game salad people put the gs viewer as a free app in the app store? That way people can test their games on an ios devise, without having to get the developer account.

P.S. I already have the dev. acc. I'm just posting this for those who don't have it.

apple wont allow it. Because they want you to have a dev account to test your games, they dont want people getting around that.

This isn't really true because there is another Game Development tool that has a free app on the app store that allows you to broadcast your compiled game to the app and it works the very same as the GS Viewer only it doesn't save your game.

I personally spoke to Yodapollo at one of the Austin events a while back about that issue. Here is the deal, Apple would let them do it as an app as long as it did not save the games in the app like it does now. That is why other viewers have been allowed on the app store because they don't do the saving thing. Apple does not like the saving thing because it would allow distribution of games outside of the AppStore. GS does not want to give up the handy save feature (nor do I think they should). So there you go.

Why not offer the non saving app as an option. Why can't there be two GS viewers.

I suppose they could do that but there are other issues as well: (1) they would have to program two different versions of the viewer for each new version of GS (probably not to hard but would be extra work taking time away from other things); (2) making it an app store app would create tons of problems with timing for new GS SDK releases as each new release a new version of viewer is required and it would be near impossible time both to come out at exact same time unless you specifically delayed the SDK update until you knew the viewer update was approved by apple and was coming out on a specific date (any mistiming would be a disaster for users). Thus, I don't think it will ever happen. And to be honest, it's so dang easy now to just add it to your device as is, I don't see what the big issue is. If someone can't handle the simple task of adding it to the device (pArticularly when there is a step by step video) they probably have no business creating iPhone apps in the first place IMO.

I think you don't get the point of thread? It is easy to add your app to your device if you have the apple developer account for $99! But now you can't put your gs game into your device without the developer account, unless you do some jailbreaking i guess..
