Android game performance

Well I finally managed to get a working .apk on my android device. I was quite excited when i saw the icon on my phone, that's where the warm and fuzzy feeling ends. Performance seems really really bad. Granted I have a pretty bad android phone, but even at 800mhz i'd expect it to at least match a iPhone 3G speed, but that's not the case.

My phone's running CM7 andriod 2.3.4

* Splash screen comes up fine, then I wait about 10 seconds with a black screen for first scene to load?

* Sound bug as already reported lots of times.

* Loading times between scenes are insane (10 secs each time)

* In-game performance awful, i'd take a guess at 4fps, even on a 3G it runs smoother.

Has anyone else managed to successfully run an android build at decent speed?

    I agree other than the sound delay my apps run well on the Kindle getting 50 frames+ even on our complicated popcorn explosion animation scene!
