Copyrighting a game made in GameSalad....

I wanted to copyright one of my games on the App Store and to do so the copyright office requires the programming for the game. Does gamesalad own the rights to the code because they own the software or do I own the code because it was done uniquely from scratch using their interface?

The act of publishing your app creates a copyright for that app. I doubt you'd need additional protections.

Realistically, unless you have a major hit game the cost of a copyright suit is more expensive than game profits. I was a signed screenwriter and most artists used to say they can steal your stuff but not your talent. Your best bet is to trademark your characters as there is nothing special about GS code. Besides, the really money is in licensing your characters for merchandise, most media is just a vehicle for that.
